6 months without a hospitalization!!

garyw
I just realized it's been 6 months since my last ER visit and that is a RECORD for me since my COPD diagnosis. I've been really careful about my meds, avoiding triggers, checking the air quality before I go anywhere, and it seems to be paying off. I know this might not seem like a big deal to most people but if you have COPD you know how scary those flare ups can be. The ones where you literally feel like you can't get air. I'm so relieved to be on a good streak. Not trying to jinx it by posting this lol but wanted to share something positive for once.

That is a HUGE deal. Six months! I know exactly how scary those flare ups are — the feeling of not being able to breathe is panic-inducing even when you know what's happening. Knowing your triggers and planning around them makes all the difference. Keep it up. Celebrate every month you add to that streak.

This gives me hope. I've had 3 ER visits in the past year and each one is terrifying. Knowing that someone can go 6 months with careful management is really encouraging. Would you mind sharing more about what you're doing differently?
