Can we talk about how wildfire smoke season is getting longer?

Alex
I'm in Portland and wildfire smoke used to be like two bad weeks in September. Now it's starting in July and lasting into October. My fibro flares are getting worse every year during smoke season — the air quality tanks and my inflammation goes through the roof. Anyone else noticing this pattern?

Chicago got smoke from the Canadian fires last summer and my Long COVID symptoms went haywire. Couldn't breathe, brain fog tripled, fatigue was unreal. I bought two HEPA filters and basically sealed myself inside for three weeks.

Alex you're so right that nobody's talking about this. Climate change is a chronic illness issue. The Felt That forecasts actually factor in AQI now which is one of the reasons I built this — because this stuff MATTERS and it's not just about temperature. The smoke seasons are getting worse and our bodies know it before the news reports it.

YES. Seattle is the same. My joints swell up during smoke season and I get this deep fatigue that's different from my usual EDS fatigue. I started tracking it with the AQI and it's not subtle. Anything over 100 and I'm wrecked the next day.
