Considering a Move

Thinking about leaving Seattle — the rain is destroying me

Casey
I love Seattle. My whole life is here, my friends, my care team, everything. But the EDS + constant low pressure systems means I'm subluxing more, my joints are looser, and I'm in a flare basically from October to May. My PT even said the humidity isn't helping my joint stability. Has anyone with hypermobility issues moved somewhere drier and actually noticed a difference? I'm looking at Tucson or maybe Albuquerque.

The leaving-your-care-team fear is so valid. I've been there. But sometimes the right climate does more than the right doctor. You can find new doctors — you can't change Seattle's weather. Whatever you decide, we're here.

Casey I feel this so hard. I'm in Portland and the rain thing is real — it's not just in our heads. Check the Felt That forecast for Tucson and ABQ, they actually score really well for joint stuff. Tucson's dryness is legit but the summer heat is brutal. ABQ has more moderate temps and the altitude didn't bother me when I visited.

I'm in Phoenix and the dry heat has honestly been better for my CRPS than the humid places I've lived. But finding a new care team was its own nightmare. Start researching doctors BEFORE you move. That's my biggest piece of advice.
