Frozen peas on the back of my neck — game changer for brain fog

Riley
I know this sounds ridiculous but hear me out. I've had Long COVID brain fog for over a year and a half. Yesterday someone in a support group mentioned vagus nerve cooling. Grabbed a bag of frozen peas, wrapped it in a towel, held it on the back of my neck for 10 minutes. The fog lifted enough that I could actually read a whole article without re-reading every paragraph. Tried it again this morning and same thing. I'm not saying it's a cure but it's the first thing that's made a noticeable difference.

Wait this is actually a thing? The vagus nerve stuff? My PT mentioned something about this but I blew it off. Trying it tonight.

I love tips like this. The stuff that actually helps is never the stuff doctors suggest. My version of this for fibro is putting my feet in a warm foot bath while icing my neck. The contrast does something. Going to try just the peas thing tomorrow.

Fellow long hauler here. The brain fog is the worst part for me. I'll literally try anything at this point. Thank you for sharing.

Saving this. I do something similar with a cold washcloth but the peas would hold cold longer. Smart.
