Pacing myself actually worked and I hate that it works

Jordan
I've been fighting against pacing for years because it felt like giving up. Today I actually tried it — set a timer, did 20 minutes of activity, rested for 10, repeat. I got more done by 2pm than I usually do in a whole day and I'm NOT in a flare tonight. Posting this mostly for the other stubborn people who think pacing is surrender. It's not. Apparently it's strategy.

The title of this post is so perfect. "It works and I hate that it works." That's the whole chronic illness experience in one sentence. Glad it's working for you.

Pacing is the only reason I'm still functional with POTS. Once I stopped trying to "power through" and started working WITH my body instead of against it, everything changed.

"Pacing is not surrender, it's strategy" — Jordan I need this tattooed on my arm. I fought pacing for YEARS with fibro. The timer method is exactly what I do now. 20 on, 10 off. Welcome to the other side.
