That Stanford fibromyalgia/small fiber neuropathy study — thoughts?

Did anyone see the study that came out linking fibromyalgia to small fiber neuropathy and potentially autoimmune causes? I have Feelings about it. On one hand — finally some evidence that this isn't "all in our heads." On the other hand — I've been told for years it's psychological and now suddenly there might be an actual physical mechanism? I'm somewhere between vindicated and furious.

"Somewhere between vindicated and furious" is exactly where I am. I lost a decade of my life being told to try yoga and think positive while there was apparently measurable nerve damage the whole time.

As someone with lupus I've watched this happen with my own condition — the decades of "hysteria" diagnoses before the medical community caught up. I hope this leads to better treatments for all of you with fibro.

I cried when I read that study. Not because it changes my daily reality right now, but because maybe my daughter won't have to fight as hard as I did to be believed.
