What's in your flare kit?

christineM
I finally put together a dedicated "flare kit" that I keep in a basket by my bed and it's honestly made flares less miserable. Here's what's in mine: - Heating pad (obviously) - Ice packs (2, they rotate) - My meds organized in a daily pill case - Electrolyte packets - Phone charger (extra long cord) - Soft blanket - Eye mask for when the light is too much - Crackers and granola bars (because sometimes you can't get to the kitchen) - A book and my kindle - TV remote - Lip balm (mouth always gets dry during flares idk why) What's in yours? I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

your list is solid. things in mine that arent in yours: - epsom salt (for when i can manage a bath) - tiger balm - a specific playlist on my phone that i only listen to during flares (idk why this helps but it does... maybe a pavlov thing where my brain associates the music with rest?) - a notes app on my phone where i pre-typed texts to send people when im canceling plans, because typing "sorry i cant make it" for the 100th time while flaring is its own kind of exhausting the pre-typed cancellation texts might be the saddest but most useful thing in my kit lol

the lip balm thing is so relatable!! i get so dehydrated during flares and my lips are always the first casualty. i keep aquaphor in mine. also: DRY SHAMPOO. because when youre deep in a flare you are not showering and having slightly less gross hair helps your mental state somehow. vanity survives even the worst flares apparently

mine also has: a soft headband to keep hair off my face, wet wipes for when a shower is impossible, ginger chews for nausea, and my dog (she puts herself in the flare kit. she is a self-appointing member) the extra long phone charger cord is KEY. nothing worse than your phone dying when you're stuck in bed and its your only connection to the world

^the pre-typed cancellation texts. im doing this immediately. the amount of energy i spend composing apologetic texts during a crash... energy i do not have
