Ok so I've tried basically every brand. Here's my ranking: 1. Jobst — medical grade, actually works, but not cute. This is my "serious symptom management" pair. 2. Comrad — marketed to nurses/athletes but has 15-25 mmHg options and they look like normal socks. My everyday pair. 3. For waist-high: Juzo. They're the most comfortable ones I've found and they actually stay up. The pharmacy ones are universally terrible. Don't judge compression by those. Also: baby powder before putting them on. Trust me. Game changer for getting them on without a 20-minute struggle.
Seconding Juzo for waist-high. Also — rubber dishwashing gloves help you grip the fabric when you're pulling them on. I read that tip somewhere years ago and it changed my mornings. As for knee-high vs waist-high: knee-high is better than nothing but for me personally waist-high made a much bigger difference. Blood pools in your thighs too not just your calves.
i basically live in compression leggings now. they make athletic ones that look normal and nobody knows theyre medical. i wear them under everything. to work, to the grocery store, to bed sometimes when im having a bad day. the pharmacy ones should come with a warning: "will make you cry trying to put them on and also they will roll down every 5 minutes." theyre the worst advertisement for compression ever
+1 for Comrad for everyday. They have fun patterns too so at least I feel like my compression socks have personality. The little things help when you're wearing medical gear daily lol also worth noting: 30-40 mmHg is serious compression. if your doc said that specifically then go with medical grade (Jobst/Juzo). but if you're just starting out, 15-20 or 20-30 might be enough and they're much easier to put on
