my cats absolutely do this. all three of them. on normal days theyre off doing their own thing but when im flaring they all pile on the bed with me. my orange one specifically positions himself on my lower back which is usually where it hurts worst. i swear he knows. they probably pick up on something — body temperature, posture changes, maybe even smell changes. animals are way more perceptive than we give them credit for
my cat ignores me 364 days a year but on flare days she suddenly becomes the worlds most attentive nurse. just parks herself on my chest and purrs. i read somewhere that cat purring frequency can actually promote healing? probably pseudoscience but ill take it
Our family dog does this with my daughter. He can tell before she even says anything that a flare is coming. He'll follow her around the house and eventually just lay across her feet and refuse to move. She says he's her early warning system. Animals are incredible.
my dog does this too. she also brings me things during flares?? like she'll bring her toys and put them on the couch next to me. i dont think shes trying to get me to play, i think shes... offering me her stuff? like sharing her favorite things? or im reading way too much into it but either way it makes me cry every time
My dog literally woke me up once in the middle of the night before a bad flare started. Just pawed at me and whined until I woke up, then laid on my legs. By morning I was in a full flare. She knew hours before I did. Dogs are better at detecting what's happening in our bodies than most medical tests and I will die on this hill
i have a pet rat (dont judge me) and she does this too. on bad days she just wants to sit in my hoodie pocket and sleep. on good days shes all over the place being a chaos gremlin. even rats know
