walked my dog around the whole block!!!!

dizzy_liz
ok so for context i have not been able to walk more than like 200 feet without resting in months. my POTS has been really bad and between the dizziness and teh fatigue i basically stopped leaving my apartment. but today i woke up and felt... ok? not good. but ok. and my dog was giving me that look. so i put on my compression stockings, drank a ton of water with salt, and we went outside and i made it ALL THE WAY around the block. its like maybe a quarter mile. and i didnt pass out or have to sit on someones lawn. i know this is tiny. i know healthy 24 year olds dont celebrate walking around a block. but im crying a little bit because for a while there i wasnt sure id ever do this again.

this is NOT tiny!! a quarter mile with POTS is a marathon equivalent. your heart was working overtime the entire time and you kept going. that takes guts and determination and you should be incredibly proud. also your dog is probably so happy right now 🐕

I remember my first "real walk" after my POTS got bad. I cried in the driveway when I got home. The relief of knowing your body can still DO things... it's overwhelming. Celebrate this. Write it down so you can remember it on the bad days. You did it.

YESSSSS. not tiny at all. i literally teared up reading this. a quarter mile without passing out or sitting on someones lawn (been there) is a HUGE deal for us. also the compression stockings + water + salt combo is doing its thing. keep it up!!

so proud of you!! and the crying is so valid. i cry every time i accomplish something physical that i thought i couldnt do anymore. happy crying is allowed. encouraged, even. give your dog a treat for me

ok im newly diagnosed and this gives me so much hope. im in the phase where getting off the couch feels impossible and seeing someone go from that to walking around a block... i needed this today. thank you for sharing
